TwitchCon Turns Ugly: Cosplayer Assaulted on Stage While Staff Do Nothing (Video)
The San Diego TwitchCon just went through one of its darkest moments. Emiru, a streamer and cosplayer followed by two million fans, was assaulted during a fan meet-and-greet — right in front of a stunned audience and an utterly passive security team.
From October 17 to 19, 2025, San Diego’s TwitchCon was meant to be a celebration of the gaming community. The event brought thousands of visitors to the San Diego Convention Center, with exclusive demos like Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive, meetups with content creators, and the lively atmosphere typical of such major gatherings. Instead, this year’s convention will be remembered for a very different reason.

A shocking incident caught on camera
During a live meet-and-greet, popular streamer Emiru — known for her passion for cosplay and her League of Legends streams — was assaulted by a “fan” in front of both the audience and several security staff members. The moment, captured by multiple attendees, quickly spread across social media. In the footage, a man can be seen climbing over several barriers to approach Emiru before attempting to hug and forcibly kiss her. Her own bodyguard eventually intervenes, but too late to stop the contact. The most disturbing part? The official TwitchCon security staff did nothing.

Following Twitch’s official statement claiming the situation had been “handled professionally,” Emiru decided to break her silence.
Emiru’s emotional testimony
A few hours after the incident, Emiru posted a long message detailing her experience and condemning Twitch’s disastrous handling of the situation. Her words were powerful, precise, and filled with disillusionment.
- She stated that the attacker managed to pass through multiple restricted areas without any checks;
- She noted that only her personal security guard stepped in;
- She lamented that TwitchCon’s official staff showed no reaction at all;
- And most importantly, she accused Twitch of lying in its official communication.
“I’m still in shock, but what hurts most is how Twitch handled everything — during and after,” she wrote. According to her, the man was initially allowed to walk free and was only arrested hours later, thanks to her team’s insistence. Twitch, on the other hand, first claimed that the individual had been “immediately restrained and handed over to authorities” — a version Emiru bluntly called a “complete lie.”
A broken trust in Twitch
In her message, Emiru also shared a deep sense of abandonment. She revealed that neither the organizers nor the staff approached her after the incident to check on her well-being. Only her manager and a close friend rushed to comfort her. A silence she deems inexcusable for an event of this magnitude.
“This is probably my last TwitchCon,” she admitted, visibly shaken. After ten years on the Twitch scene, she believes that creators are not being protected — especially those who cannot afford private security. She also urged other influencers to reconsider attending future Twitch events.
