Critically Acclaimed PC Game Gets Day One PlayStation Plus Release – And It's Coming Soon!
Sony keeps spoiling its subscribers with another major announcement: a highly promising cooperative survival game is coming to the PlayStation Plus catalog on day one. And it’s not just any game…
This summer is heating up on PlayStation Plus: after offering subscribers the legendary AAA title Diablo IV, the catalog is expanding once more with a standout indie gem: Abiotic Factor, a critically acclaimed co-op survival game on PC, is making its PS5 debut with a day-one launch that could be one of the month’s highlights.

Abiotic Factor: when science turns into horror
Behind the cryptic name lies a cooperative survival game from Deep Field Games, where up to six players are thrown into a thrilling and perilous scientific adventure. The setting? A secret underground research base called GATE, supposedly dedicated to advancing human knowledge—until everything goes terribly wrong.
In classic sci-fi fashion, an experiment goes awry, ripping open an interdimensional rift and unleashing supernatural beings into the facility. Players must rely on strategy, creativity, and a bit of luck to have any hope of making it out alive.
- Co-op gameplay for 1 to 6 players
- Crafting and hacking mechanics to overcome challenges
- A rich narrative universe filled with entities from other realities
- An immersive atmosphere that fans of Half-Life and Control will love
A highly anticipated console launch
Already available on PC since May 2024, where it received an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, Abiotic Factor is making its way to PlayStation 5 on July 22. Even better: it will be available on day one in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue, a brilliant move by Sony. So dust off your lab coats and start planning your escape routes—the danger has never been this thrilling!
Sony’s bold strategy continues
This announcement reinforces the trend we’ve seen in recent months. After adding Sandland in May and FBC Firebreak in June, Sony is clearly doubling down on day-one releases. This isn’t just a lucky streak—it’s a deliberate effort to boost the PlayStation Plus offering and reassert its place at the heart of the online gaming landscape.
But while the announcements keep coming, there’s one detail that tempers the excitement: Sony recently clarified that its day-one release strategy on PS Plus applies only to third-party and indie games. Titles from PlayStation’s own studios will continue to follow a traditional release schedule. This decision has frustrated some subscribers, but it hasn’t stopped the platform from building an ever-expanding and surprisingly rich catalog. What the coming months hold remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: PlayStation Plus is far from done.
