After Spider-Man, Insomniac’s Marvel Universe Expands with Two New Games Coming Soon
After months of silence and speculation, new exclusive information has finally shed light on the progress of Insomniac Games’ most anticipated projects. Between Marvel’s Wolverine getting closer to release and Venom continuing its development behind the scenes, Insomniac’s Marvel universe still has plenty of surprises in store for players.
In just a few years, Insomniac Games has become one of PlayStation’s most respected studios, thanks to the massive success of its Marvel’s Spider-Man series — with the first game now available on PS Plus. But the California-based studio isn’t stopping there: two new Marvel projects are already in the works. These include Wolverine and an intriguing spin-off centered on Venom, which are finally starting to take shape behind closed doors.

Wolverine on Track for 2026
Ever since its 2021 announcement, Marvel’s Wolverine has fueled players’ excitement, eager to see Insomniac tackle this legendary hero. The studio has remained remarkably quiet since that reveal, sparking speculation about the game’s progress. However, sources close to the project now confirm that development is moving forward as planned and still targeting a 2026 release. Recently, an internal Sony document also mentioned an earliest possible launch in April 2026, reinforcing that the project is on schedule. And according to Insider Gaming, the game could be showcased at an upcoming State of Play, potentially kicking off a more regular communication cycle around the title.
Venom Still in Active Development
More good news: despite concerns from the community, the development of a Venom spin-off is still ongoing, according to Insider Gaming. While the exact stage of production is unknown, it’s likely that the game is still in pre-production, with Wolverine remaining the studio’s top priority. On the narrative side, several rumors suggest that:
- Eddie Brock will be the main protagonist, portrayed closer to his comic book version than his cinematic counterpart.
- Anti-Venom will make an appearance, in a darker and more terrifying form than the one seen in Spider-Man 2.
- Carnage will return as the main antagonist, setting the stage for a massive showdown.
Of course, these details should be taken with a grain of salt, but they offer an interesting glimpse at the potential narrative direction.
While Wolverine seems to be on schedule, Venom’s future remains more uncertain. Originally slated for late 2024, leaks now suggest that the project likely won’t release before 2027.
